Risa
Nyman

A lifelong Bostonian until 2019, Risa has the accent to prove it.  Check out the bio page on her website to hear a short audio clip of how an authentic Bostonian speaks. Risa wears her accent proudly as a badge of loyalty to her birthplace.

Before her life changed direction and creative writing became her focus, Risa worked for a nonpartisan, not-for-profit organization that promotes informed and active participation in our democracy. She conducted get-out-the-vote campaigns, moderated candidates’ debates and lobbied for improvements in voting procedures to give people confidence their votes will be counted accurately.

Risa found her writing voice in contemporary middle grade fiction, a genre that reflects a time of rapid growth and eager exploration for tweens. Most often these days, she is at the computer writing or preoccupied in the world of her story, plotting the next scene or how to extract a character from some messy situation. She is a member of SCBWI, Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.

Risa is thrilled to have her profile on Immortal Works’ Authors Page and awaits the publication of her debut middle grade novel which, of course, takes place in Massachusetts.
