Growing up, Rachel’s mom paid her a dollar for each classic novel she read, so at twelve years old she was tearing through epics such as Don Quixote and Wuthering Heights in a quest to amass a small fortune. In high school she performed in over sixteen musicals, two operas, five stage plays and directed children’s community theater. She attended college at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, studying home and family living and taking as many dance classes as she could fit between the cracks in her schedule. Her first inclination to pursue a literary career came from her time spent working at the campus bookstore, devouring heaps of novels behind the register and watching authors such as Brandon Sanderson, Paul Rusesabagina, and others host book signings. Her first novel is set to come out with Immortal Works in 2019 and she is thrilled to spend her time exploring undiscovered manuscripts.
Rachel is interested in middle grade mysteries, science fiction, fantasy, and retellings of all shapes and sizes. But, blow her away with your first five pages and she just might ask to see more, no matter what the genre. Some of her favorite books are The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer, Ultraviolet by R. J. Anderson, Goose Girl by Shannon Hale, Followed by Frost by Charlie Holmberg, Timebound by Rysa Walker, The Golem and the Jinni by Helene Wecker, the Mistborn Series by Brandon Sanderson, and The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern.
She is not a good fit for horror, graphic crime novels, or contemporary.
